As the end of the season approaches

A message from our 37th President

Dear Fellow Casual

Well that's it, all competitive first team games completed and as another season draws to an end so does my time as Club President. My three years as President have been very enjoyable and I have met some exceedingly nice people over the period. I have endeavoured to portray the qualities of our club which we are rightly proud of, in being hospitable and respectful to our visitors and guests and hopefully they left looking forward to their next visit to Rush Mills.

As for within, I have tried to prompt, support and be active in the cause of the Club, and be there when required. I am sure I have not succeeded in all aspects but I always have had the club's best interests in mind.

Also whilst I am still in office I would like to say a huge thank you to all who selflessly give of their free time to the benefit of the membership, you are true Casuals heroes. Not only does the club benefit from these altruistic members, but also the wider community, as demonstrated by the participation of nearly 300 young people each Sunday and the number of adults playing and training each week, as well as the overall high standard of our well maintained facilities.

Rugby is facing very challenging times, and we as a club need to be active in bolstering support for the game and in particular making the Casuals the club of choice for players. Nick Smith is very committed to the improvement of our offer to players both young and old and I look forward to seeing the development of these aspirations. However we should never rest on our laurels, and whilst the drive to improve the club is there, it needs all who can to step forward and offer their time and experience to ensure success.

With James Franklin assuming the Presidency you can be assured the club will continue to be represented by a true Casual. James will mark a step forward, bringing a contemporary view of club life and a verve and wit to events that will be welcome.

Good luck James, and thank you Northampton Casuals.

Clive
Northampton Casuals RFC President
